Following the acquisition of Merrill Lynch on January 1, 2009, Bank of America is among the world’s leading wealth management companies and is a global leader in corporate and investment banking, trading across a broad range of asset classes serving corporations, governments, institutions and individuals around the world. In addition, the acquisition adds strengths in debt and equity underwriting, sales and trading, as well as global merger and acquisition advice, creating significant opportunities to deepen relationships with corporate and institutional clients around the globe.
The acquisition also added Merrill Lynch’s approximately 16,000 financial advisors and its economic ownership of approximately 50 percent in BlackRock, Inc., a publicly-traded investment management company. These groups provide a wide offering of customised banking, investment and brokerage services tailored to meet the changing wealth management needs of our individual and institutional customer base.
