Do I need to be an existing Bank of America customer to use Online Card Services?
To use our Online Card Services service you will need to have an MBNA-issued credit card.
How secure is my account information online?
One of our highest priorities is to ensure your privacy and peace of mind by employing the most advanced online security measures in the industry. These include:
- State-of-the-art encryption of all data transmitted between your computer and our secure site. We require 128-bit SSL to maintain the highest encryption standards throughout our site and protect your online account information. We suggest that you use a version 4.0 or higher AOL®, Microsoft® or Netscape™ browser.
- A unique login name and password system for authentication purposes.
- Secure communication of maintenance requests through our site's 'Manage Account' functions. Unlike email, which is an unsecured form of messaging, these requests are encrypted.
How does encryption work - and what’s the difference between 40-bit and 128-bit encryption?
Many browsers offer both 40-bit and 128-bit versions of SSL. 128-bit encryption provides a much higher level of security as it is more than 300 x 1024 times more secure than 40-bit encryption. Major commercial browsers, including Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher and Netscape™ Navigator 4.75 or higher, include this encryption software. Online Card Services requires the higher level (128-bit SSL) of encryption to ensure the privacy of your information.

How do I go paperless and is there a fee?
There is no cost to go paperless and receive your statements online. Simply go to the Manage Account section of Online Card Services and click the Go Paperless link. When you go paperless you will stop receiving your statements in the mail. Instead, every month we will send you an email notifying you that your statement is available online for viewing and printing.
What happens if I forget to log off?
For security reasons Online Card Services becomes disabled after long periods of inactivity and the system will automatically log off. If this happens you will be required to repeat the log in procedure. We encourage you to use the log off function for maximum security when you are finished with the system or you walk away from your computer.

Why is this site not https?
Although the pages on this site are not secured as a whole, we can assure you that the data you enter is encrypted and therefore is secure. If you enter your user name in the Account Access box and click Log On, you will be directed to a secure page. In being directed to a secure page, your data is automatically encrypted and therefore is secure. In due course we will be moving the log in box onto a secure page to make this more obvious.
