What is SiteKey?
SiteKey is a free, award-winning online security feature that is now a standard part of our Online Card Services log in experience. As part of our ongoing commitment to help protect you against identity theft and fraud, SiteKey is a two-step identification system that helps reassure you that you’re at our authentic Online Card Services website (you know it’s us), while preventing unauthorised access to your accounts (we know it’s you).
How does SiteKey work?
SiteKey consists of three parts: an image, an image title and three challenge questions that are secrets between you and us. When you log in to Online Card Services with your user name you should see your secret SiteKey image and image title. That’s confirmation that you’re at our bank’s legitimate website. If you see your secret image and image title, enter your password to access Online Card Services. If you do not see your secret image and image title do not enter your passwords as you could be at a fraudulent site. If you are not logging on from the computer that you usually access Online Card Services you may also be asked one of your security questions in order to confirm your identity.
All three parts help protect you, whether you’re logging on to Online Card Services from your own computer, or from somewhere else (such as work or a public location).
Has my password changed?
No. The SiteKey image, image title and three challenge questions and answers you provide are separate from your regular Online Card Services log in password.
Why do I need to set up verification questions?
Verification questions help prevent unauthorised people from getting access to your Online Card Services information. That way, even if they've stolen your username and password, they won't know the answer to the secret question.
How does Bank of America recognise me?
One of the ways we recognise you is by placing a cookie on your computer when you sign up for our SiteKey service. The cookie contains a randomly generated, unique number used as an identifier. When you log in after that your web browser sends us this cookie, which lets us know that you’re using your own computer. The cookie is visible only to our authentic Online Card Services site and does not contain any personal information. If you have Adobe Flash installed on your computer, we will use Adobe Flash objects to identify your computer in the event that we can’t identify your cookies.
Can I change my SiteKey picture, memorable phrase, and verification questions?
Yes, you can change your SiteKey picture, memorable phrase and verification questions at any time. We'll never ask you to change your SiteKey information and we'll never change it for you. To make the change, login to Online Card Services and select Manage Account. Then, select either the Change SiteKey link or Change Verification Questions link.
Is there a fee for using the SiteKey service?
SiteKey is free. It’s just one more way we’re working with you to safeguard you from identity theft and fraud.
How do I sign up for SiteKey?
Signing up for and using SiteKey is quick and easy. You simply choose a SiteKey picture, memorable phrase, and 3 verification questions. You've 2 ways of signing up for SiteKey at the time you register in Online Card Services or, if you're already registered, the next time you login you'll be prompted to set up your SiteKey picture, memorable phrase and 3 verification questions.
Where do I enter my password?
We have changed the way you log in to Online Card Services to better safeguard the privacy and security of your personal information. You will now be prompted for your user name and password on 2 different screens. This will help confirm your identity before you enter your password.
