Why is my MBNA Credit Card changing?
MBNA joined forces with Bank of America in January 2006 and became part of the Bank of America group. That’s why we’re now rebranding MBNA and you’ll start to see the Bank of America name in the communications you receive from us from August onwards.
What will be different with my new credit card?
Your new credit card will be Bank of America branded and you’ll have a new 16-digit account number. Your terms and conditions, interest rates and benefits will not change as a result of this rebrand.
When will I receive my new Bank of America credit card?
Your Bank of America credit card will be sent to you in August 2009 (provided your account is in good standing). You should continue to use your current MBNA Credit Card in the meantime.
How long can I continue to use my MBNA Credit Card?
You can continue to use your current MBNA Credit Card until you receive and activate your new Bank of America credit card.
Will my interest rates change?
We will not be changing your interest rates as a result of this rebrand.
I have just completed a money/balance transfer – will my promotional rates stay the same?
Yes, there will be no amendments to your rates or promotional period as a result of this change.
Will my existing Personal Identification Number (PIN) stay the same?
Yes, your PIN will continue to be exactly the same four-digit number. This will work on your new 16-digit account number.
I currently have a Direct Debit set up on my account – will this change?
No, there’s no need for you to make changes to any existing Direct Debit arrangement. Your payments will continue to be made on the dates they are due.
I currently use Bill Payment Services – will this change?
If you use bill payment services or online/telephone banking you will need to provide the following details to your bill payment service provider:
- Your new 16-digit credit card number
- Our bank account number: 70328725
- Our sort code: 08-61-30.
Payments should be made at least four working days before the due date shown.
What should I do about subscriptions or recurring transactions that I currently have on my account?
As we’re providing you with a new account number, if you have regular subscriptions or recurring transactions set up, you will need to update your card details if they’re held by shopping websites, like Amazon or eBay. So, as soon as you receive your new card, you’ll need to contact your service provider and give them your new account number.
How does this affect my authorised user(s)?
They will also receive a new card at the same time as you. Their PIN will remain the same, as will their interest rates (including any promotional rates) and features.
Will my payment system (Visa or MasterCard) change?
Your new Bank of America Credit Card will use the same payment system as your MBNA Credit Card.
Will the service on my credit card account change?
No, you’ll still receive the same high standard of service. You can continue to manage your account online with your existing website password and login details. Plus, you can call us free of charge 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Will my Payment Protection Cover (PPC) be affected?
No, your Payment Protection Cover will remain unchanged and be automatically transferred.
Will my LifestyleProtect cover be affected?
No, your LifestyleProtect cover will remain unchanged and will be automatically transferred.
Will my Card Protection policy be affected?
Card Protection customers will not be impacted by the move to Bank of America as the terms & conditions of their Card Protection policy will not change. Customers need to contact CPP to register their new card, but this will not impact the customer’s policy.
I currently have an MBNA Rewards Credit Card. Will my Bank of America Rewards programme change?
Only the name will change; the Rewards programme will remain the same. Your Rewards will now be part of the Bank of America credit card rewards programme. Any existing points will be transferred to your new account and you’ll continue to earn points at the same rate as you did before.
Your new credit cards will look like this:
